Guided Forest Experiences

We facilitate forest tours and nature experiences
BOOK A TOUR

Join us for a wander

Forests are powerful places to reconnect with yourself and the natural world. Homo sapiens have co-evolved with forests and many cultures around the world have an embedded understanding of the powerful role forests play in supporting personal and societal wellbeing. Our intention is to facilitate an experience that allows you to viscerally experience the restorative effects of forests whilst engaging your curiosity to widen your awareness and observation of the forest ecosystem.
The tours are held on Wurundjeri and Bunurong/Boon Wurrung Country, land that has remained under the care of the First Nations people for thousands of years.

"This experience opened me up to the incredible complexity and yet simplicity of nature and its power. I learned about the forests, hollows for wildlife and the role of trees in the water cycle. We saw the forests undertake 'carbon banking' and learned that these places is the original country of  several traditional owner groups. What an insightful trip into forests, so close to Melbourne, they're sanctuaries for our busy lives." Sean, Croydon.

Nature rejuvenation

Forests have supported the wellbeing of people for thousands of years. Many cultures have a rich relationship and understanding of the role forests play in enhancing the vitality of people and the planet. Research is beginning to reveal mysteries that suggest the powerful role forests have on our bodies and minds.

Psychological and physiological benefits purported by science include:
increase in parasympathetic nerve activity (rest and relax mode) and decrease in sympathetic nerve activity (active and vigilant mode), positive improvement in mental health, improved sleep quality, decrease in fatigue, reduced stress levels, decreased level of burnout, improvement in cardiovascular health, reduced inflammation, improved cardiac and pulmonary function and improvement in immune function (increase in NK cells production) (Rajoo et al. 2020 & Oh et al. 2017).

Science and medicine evidences to us what the traditional people of country have always known, our health is dependent on getting outdoors and connecting to nature.

Forest & Mindfulness Walk
Our aim is for you to leave feeling rejuvenated and enlivened. The 3 hour tour will be time to slow down, connect to your senses and deepen your relationship with the forest ecology. The walk is a moderate grade (mostly flat with some short climbs and steps) and 3kms in total. Your facilitator will guide you through mindfulness based practices, share stories of the landscape and elucidate relationships between forests and human wellbeing.
We will meet at Badger Weir Picnic Area, Yarra Ranges National Park, where we will begin and end the walk. Food will not be provided and we recommend bringing a picnic with you to enjoy afterwards or try out a nearby cafe/restaurant.
